disturbing transcript of grand jury testimony in the roman polanski rape case. he spent time as a child in a nazi concentration camp, his pregnant wife was murdered by the manson family, and then he raped a 13 year old girl in jack nicholson's house -- can we watch his movies without bringing this all to bear? can we and should we judge his movies objectively, whatever that means? should we avoid his movies and deny him praise? what of chinatown, rosemary's baby, the pianist, etc?
UPDATE: weird! geimer has come out in polanski's defense before but it always sounded to me like she just wanted to get the press off her back -- still, it's very strange.
