the hungarian director was once described to me as "hyper film nerd obscure," he is now definitely hip to name drop. like michael haneke 3-5 years ago, people (americans) say they'd heard of him before the piano teacher and cache, or in tarr's case the werckmeister harmonies, but had they? I mean they've seen all his old movies now but there's really no way to know for sure. a youtube search yielded some interviews, pirated clips and a video of stella tarr(!). I want to see this movie so badly, I missed it at the new york film festival and fear I missed it forever.
UPDATE: it opened and closed at the MoMA while I was in maine [sigh].

I will bring you a copy from hungary. the ticket is already in the bag. and I own the werckmeister harmonies (a gift from my beloved hungarian cultural attache).
awesome, but make sure it's a region 1 DVD (it probably won't be). the title in hungarian is a londoni ferfi.
